How long is a Reiki session, and how many will I need?

Answered by Vanessa Chugani · Updated August 2026

A Reiki session isn't timed to the minute: it runs as long as it takes for you to settle and for the work to close, whether in person in Canggu or by distance. How many you need varies by person, not a formula. Options range from a single session to a three or five session package, valid either way.

People asking this question usually want a number, and the honest answer is that Vanessa doesn't run a session by the clock. It takes as long as it takes: time to lie down, settle, let your nervous system stop bracing, and let the work close properly. Some people are ready to get up and talk again quickly. Others need longer to come back into the room. There's no stopwatch and no early exit because a slot is up.

How long it actually takes

What's fixed is the price, not the minute count: EUR 188 for a one to one session in person in Canggu, or EUR 138 for a distance session. If you need to plan your afternoon around it precisely, say so on the contact page and she'll give you a realistic window before you book, rather than a number that isn't really true. The format changes how the session is delivered, not how long it runs.

One session, or a few

How many you'll need isn't something she can answer before meeting you, and she won't pretend otherwise. Some people come once, get what they came for, and don't come back. Others find it helps to have a few sessions closer together, especially through a stretch of stress, grief, or plain depletion.

If you already know you want more than one, the packages work out cheaper than booking one at a time:

  • Three sessions: EUR 388
  • Five sessions: EUR 588

Both packages are valid for either format, so you can combine in-person sessions in Canggu with distance sessions depending on where you happen to be. If you're pregnant, sessions are also offered adapted per trimester, see Pregnancy Reiki.

What decides the number, in practice

Most people who book a second or third session do it because the first one gave them something worth repeating: easier sleep, a day that felt less wired, a proper stretch of rest. If nothing shifted for you, more sessions of the same thing usually won't shift it either, and Vanessa will say so rather than sell you a package regardless. She'd rather say plainly that a package isn't the right fit than keep filling a calendar out of habit. You can read about the kinds of situations that tend to bring people in on this page.

What a session won't do

However many you book, a Reiki session is not a treatment for a medical condition, it doesn't diagnose anything, and it isn't a substitute for seeing a doctor. If you're hoping a set number of sessions will resolve a diagnosed problem, that isn't what's on offer here, so know that before you buy a package, not after. What it is: proper rest, in a quiet room, with someone paying attention, done honestly.

Related questions

Do you time the session with a clock?

No. A session runs until it's done, not until a timer goes off. If knowing the length in advance matters for your day, say so when you book and Vanessa will give you a realistic window rather than a fixed number.

Can I mix in-person and distance sessions within a package?

Yes. Both the three-session and five-session packages are valid for either format, so you can book some in person in Canggu and some by distance depending on where you are, without having to explain why you're switching between visits each time.

How do I know if I need one session or a package?

You don't have to decide upfront. Book a single session first, in person (EUR 188) or by distance (EUR 138), and see what it does for you before committing to a three or five session package. That's usually the more honest way to find out than guessing in advance.
