Are online Reiki attunements real?

People ask this because the idea of an attunement happening over a screen sounds like it should not work. The honest answer is that what makes an attunement real is not the cable between you and your teacher. It is whether a teacher is actually there with you, live, guiding you through it. A recording cannot do that. An automated system cannot do that. A person can, whether she is sitting across the room or on the other side of a video call.

What makes it real

An attunement is something a teacher does with a student, in real time, paying attention to how that student is responding. Vanessa Chugani teaches Reiki Levels 1 through Master Teacher this way, in Canggu or live online, in English or German. She has never taught from a recording and does not offer an automated attunement. If it is online, she is on the call, watching, adjusting pace, answering what comes up. That is what carries across the distance. Training runs EUR 488 per level, the same price whether you sit across the room from her or join by video, and it includes the manual, the attunement itself and support afterwards.

How a live online attunement actually works

You will be on a video call, usually somewhere quiet where you will not be interrupted. Vanessa talks you through what is about to happen, then guides the attunement while you sit or lie down with your eyes closed. She stays on the call before and after so there is space to talk about what came up, or did not. Groups are small, no more than six people, and much of her teaching is one to one. There is no fixed calendar. Dates get arranged around the student, so an online attunement can happen at a time that actually suits your week rather than a course date set months in advance.

What you might feel, and what is normal to feel

Some students feel warmth or a kind of settling in the body. Plenty feel nothing at all, and that is completely normal, whether the attunement happens in person or on a screen. Feeling nothing does not mean nothing happened. It means the sensation was not the kind you can locate in your body, and that is true of first level attunements taught in person too. Vanessa would rather a student arrive with accurate expectations than a romantic idea of fireworks, because the accurate version is the one that holds up once the training is over and you are practising on your own.

Choosing in person or online

If you can get to Canggu, sitting in the room with her is a nice way to train and some students prefer it. But it is not a requirement, and it is not a lesser version of the same course. If you already have a life you cannot easily leave, or you live somewhere else entirely, live online training gets you the same levels, the same manual and the same support, taught by the same person, without a flight.
