Reiki training in Bali or training at home: which is right for you?

By Vanessa Chugani · Updated August 2026

Choose Bali if you want the trip itself to be part of learning: days away from your routine, taught live in Canggu. Choose training at home if travel isn't possible right now, or you would rather qualify among people you already know. Both give you the same level of qualification; the difference is the experience around it.

Reiki training exists in two very different shapes. You can travel to Canggu and learn in person with Vanessa over several days away from your ordinary week, or you can train closer to home with a teacher based where you live. Both routes can give you a proper qualification, level by level up to Master Teacher. The real difference is not the certificate at the end, it is what happens around the learning: the week away from your usual life, or the class that fits between the school run and dinner. Neither is automatically better. What matters is which one actually helps you take the training in.

Which one suits you

Bali training suits someone who wants the trip to be part of the learning: a week where the training is the only thing on the calendar, away from the school run, the inbox, the usual noise. That distance genuinely helps some people take the material in. It does not make the qualification any more real. If you have caring responsibilities that make a week away impossible, a budget that a flight and accommodation would strain, or you would simply rather build your practice among people you already know in your own town, training with a teacher closer to home is the right call. If what you actually want is to train with Vanessa herself without the flight, training is also taught live online at the same price. Either way, what you are training for is the same: a way to offer rest and steadier nervous systems to people who need it, starting with yourself.

Related questions

Is training in Bali a better qualification than training at home?

No. Level 1 through Master Teacher follows the same structure wherever you train, in Bali or at home. What differs is the teacher, the setting, and whatever the trip itself adds, not the standing of the certificate you finish with.

Does the travel actually help you learn?

Many students say the week away helps: no phone pulling at their attention, no home life crowding in between sessions. That's a real benefit, not a requirement. A good teacher at home can teach the same material just as thoroughly, without the flight.

Can I train with Vanessa without flying to Bali?

Yes. Training is also taught live online at the same price as in Canggu, in real time with her, never a recording and never an automated attunement. It gets you the same teacher and the same course, just without the trip.
