What happens if I have to miss part of a live online Reiki training?
Answered by Vanessa Chugani · Updated October 2026
Because training is taught live and never recorded, a missed section means missing it live. Groups are small, often just one to one, and dates are arranged around each student rather than fixed to a calendar, so you speak to Vanessa directly and she finds a time to cover what you missed before you move on to the next part.
Reiki training with Vanessa is taught live, whether you join her in Canggu or take the course online, and that is deliberate. Every level includes a manual, a live attunement and her support afterwards, and none of that works if a stage of the course is pre-recorded. It also means that if you have to step away for part of a session, you miss something real, not a file you can replay later.
Live training, never a recording
There is no video version of Level 1 through Master Teacher sitting on a server waiting for you to catch up. Every attunement happens with Vanessa present, in the room or on the call, because that is how Usui Shiki Ryoho is taught. If you have to leave a live online session early, or join late, or lose your connection partway through, there is no backup recording to send you. What there is, is Vanessa herself, and a course built around a handful of people rather than a few hundred.
What happens when you miss part of it
Training groups are capped at six, and a good number of her students train one to one. Because dates are arranged around each student rather than pulled from a fixed calendar in the first place, a missed section is something she can work around rather than something the course schedule has no room for. Tell her as soon as you know you will be away from the screen, and she will find a point in your course, or a short call outside it, to go over what you missed before you move on to the next level. This is part of the support included in the EUR 488 you pay per level: it does not stop the moment the live call ends.
Small groups make it easier to catch up
A class of six, or a session of one, is a different proposition from a lecture hall. Vanessa can see who is there and who has dropped off the call, and she already builds flexibility into how she schedules each course, because no two students need the same number of sessions in the same order. That is also why there is no fixed public calendar: she sets dates around the people actually training with her, so working around one missed section is an extension of how the course already runs, not an exception to it.
This way of training suits someone who wants a teacher who is actually present, not a platform with a deadline. If a clash is likely before you even start, mention it when you arrange your dates, and she will build the course around it from the beginning. Reiki training, from Level 1 to Master Teacher, is arranged directly with Vanessa, so a missed hour is a conversation, not a lockout. If you would rather talk it through first, get in touch.

What if I know in advance that I will miss part of a live online session?
Yes. There is no fixed calendar; dates are arranged around each student. If you will miss part of a live online session, tell Vanessa beforehand and she will cover that part with you in a later session or a short call before you move on to the next stage.
Will I get a recording of the part I missed?
No. Training is taught live only, in person or online, and nothing is pre-recorded or automated, including the attunements. If you miss part of a live online session, Vanessa covers it with you directly rather than sending a video, which is part of why her groups stay small, often six people or fewer, or one to one.
Is live online training different from training in person in Canggu?
No. Each level costs EUR 488 either way and covers the same manual, live attunement and support after. The only difference is that you join by video instead of sitting in the same room in Canggu, so the same approach to a missed session, speaking to Vanessa directly, applies whichever format you choose.
