Can you book a Reiki session with a friend, or does it have to be one-on-one?

Answered by Vanessa Chugani · Updated October 2026

Sessions with Vanessa are one to one, so a friend can't join you in the room. If you want to go together, you each book your own session, in person in Canggu or at a distance, and you can time them back to back so you arrive and leave as a pair.

A Reiki session here is built for one person at a time. You lie down, Vanessa works with her hands resting lightly on or near the body, and her attention stays with you for the whole session. That doesn't change if you arrive with a friend, a partner or a sister. If you're both stressed, exhausted or simply curious enough to want to try it together, you can come on the same day. Each of you books and pays for your own session, with the same one-to-one attention either way. You don't need anyone with you to come, though plenty of people do.

Why a session stays one to one

A session isn't a class or a group meditation, and it isn't run like one. It is time where one nervous system gets full attention, for as long as it takes, and that's hard to do properly for two people on the table at the same time. Keeping it one to one means the pace, the quiet conversation before and after, and the full time on the table all belongs to you, not shared or split with whoever came along.

Coming along with a friend

Plenty of people do bring a friend to Canggu and book their sessions back to back, so you travel there together and leave together, even though you're each on the table alone. Say when you book that you're coming as a pair, and Vanessa will try to line up times that sit close together. There's no joint rate: each session is priced on its own, whether that's a single visit or one of the session packages, and a package belongs to the person who booked it, not to two people splitting it between them.

In person or at a distance

If one of you is in Canggu and the other isn't, you don't both need to be in the same place. In-person sessions run from her space in Canggu, and distance sessions work the same way wherever you are, so a friend back home can have their session on the same evening without flying in. The three and five session packages are valid for either format, but they're built around one person returning over a few weeks, not two people sharing a single block.

Who this tends to suit

People who book together are often going through the same stretch of life at the same time: a loss, a divorce, a stretch of work that's left everyone wired and short on sleep. Coming together can make the whole visit easier to plan around work, flights or childcare. However you arrive, the session itself stays personal to you, not a shared experience you talk through together on the table. If you'd rather sort out the timing directly, see how sessions work or get in touch and Vanessa will work out a schedule that suits you both.

Related questions

Can we book session times back to back so we travel to Canggu together?

Yes. Tell Vanessa when you book that you're coming with someone else, and she'll try to line up your times so you arrive and leave together. You'll still each have your own session on the table, booked and priced as two separate sessions, not shared between you.

Is there a discount for booking two people into one session?

No. Sessions here are one to one, so there's no joint rate and no way to split a single booking between two people. Each person pays the standard session price, or uses their own three or five session package, even if you book on the same day.

Can one of us do an in-person session while the other does one at a distance, on the same day?

Yes, the two formats run independently, so one of you can be on the table in Canggu while the other has a distance session wherever they are. You simply book each session separately for the time that works best for each person.
